Dear Oregon Legislators,
We, the undersigned parents, teachers, students, and community members, believe every child deserves a school experience that prioritizes learning, focus, friendships, and emotional well-being.
Research shows that: 1. personal devices (like Smartphones/social media) continuously distract and/or even harm students at school. 2. Ed Tech is abysmal at teaching kids to learn and think (as grades reflect) and is pushing aside teachers, who know how to teach-reaching children with awareness, empathy, and skills tailored to kids' unique needs, individually or as a classroom. 3. Artificial Intelligence gives us only un-tested promises and lots of harm via cheating, false advice, Chatbots, etc.
We support the legislation listed below that advocates for our kids and their healthy development and learning, free from harm. Thank you for considering legislation to protect the well-being of all students, both in the present and in the many years to come.
